| '2nd Annual State of Clinical Development Cost Conference' |
| The '2nd Annual State of Clinical Development Cost Conference' is less that one month away so don't delay in reserving your seat today. This is the second year USciences of Philadelphia and TTC join together to share current pharmaceutical industry research. During this conference speakers will present many different research areas: |
- How much are CROs actually used and how the CROs are involved in key clinical trial activity areas
- An analyses of total site spending in key geographies including Latin America, Asia, and Europe. Also, major trends in spending broken down by key areas such as overhead.
- Analyzing the motivation behind why Latin American and Asia/Pacific investigators take part in clinical trials.
- Research on how sites currently include Standard of Care/Routine Care consideration in the clinical trial budgeting.
- site start-up costs as a major piece of the clinical trial agreements.

Cost Per Visit in Phase II-III Clinical Trials
|
| After controlling for therapeutic area, grant source, phase, and other study design factors, GrantPlan's 2011 data update demonstrates that the average cost per visit in the United States is substantially higher than that of the less experienced geography Asia with 42% cost per visit relative to the US in 2009 and 2011. Interestingly, therefore, the cost per visit in Asia is not increasing relative to the US. -TTC (for more information please contact help@ttc-llc.com) |

| From The Help Desk |
| Our Cost Per Visit Tool (CPV Tool) is used by clients for very high level, long term, forecasting. As with all GrantPlan® data, the Industry Benchmarks will show at low, median, and high level when inputting the estimated number of visits for a specific phase and indication. The data reflects studies currently being done in the industry. A phase three may have relatively less procedures, a phase two will include more extensive diagnostics, and both will be reflected depending on various factors. |

With an increased focus on Standard of Care (SoC), and grants reflecting SoC in many diverse indications, we see the costs of investigators grants dropping considerably (this is only referring to the costs that the sponsor is responsible for). In certain circumstances the cost difference between applying SoC and grants with out SoC for the same study in the U.S., can be as much as 35% but more often between 15% and 25%. Very interesting! |

|
These are signed contracts, agreed to pay to the investigators and are entered into GrantPlan. The consequence of this is, of course, that these actual costs show up in the CPV Tool, consequently the Industry Benchmarks Low can drop by a substantial amount! While a large gap in costs can be questionable, it is a true trend in the industry. The more SoC that is used, the more we will see costs decrease at the lower range. |
